Various AutoCAD Tips

My only suggestion is rather than using the “None” selection, I find it quicker to toggle F3 that turns the snaps on and off.

Yes, it’s not a single selection and you have to turn it back on, but your hand/fingers know where to go (you can tell I come with HotKey background) faster than C-rt clk, pick. Just a thought.

Make sure you pick the Tangent osnap for each circle.

If you are doing an override, this means you will pick line, then “tangent”, then pick your circle, then pick “tangent” again and pick your other circle Area The AREA command can be used to determine the enclosed 'coverage' of one object (typically closed polylines).

This tool can also determine the 'space' by selecting points in the design. Additionally, the 'area' tool can be used to do simple 'addition' or 'subtraction' of multiple objects 'coverage'.

This can be done using the 'Add' or 'Subtract' options in the command and they can be toggled between after you enter one of these options Calculator The CAL command is used to make quick simple 'calculations' on the command line using accepted keyboard characters (/ - division, * - multiplication, + - addition) for the functions.

The QUICKCALC command accesses a fully functional calculator tool that not only has the 'calculator' function but also has a 'units conversion' tool, 'scientific' functions and 'variables' for formula use as well.

Also, using the buttons at the top of this 'dialog', you have access to some of the 'inquiry' functions in AutoCAD (angles, coordinates, etc.) and you can also paste information from this tool to the command line for use in other functions.

Pan Using the 'wheel' on the mouse as a button will allow you to 'pan' in your drawing while holding this 'button' down.

One precaution to take prior to using this 'pan' function is to 'right-click' on an 'open area' around your toolbars and select 'Lock Location' and 'lock' at least your 'docked toolbars'.

Doing this will keep you from accidentally 'dragging' your toolbars around. Also, if you need to do a large amount of 'panning' at once, you can use the PAN command to 'lock' the 'pan' function 'on'.

You also have added tools in this function in the 'right-click' menu. To exit this tool select 'Esc' or 'Enter'.
