Reversing the direction of a custom line

When using custom line types, I've noticed that the "display" of the text in the line type (mainly in curvilinear lines)is controlled more by the length and orientation of the component rather than auto-producing a legible text display within the line.

Is there something for Autocad (Civil 3D) which allows some display control - such as a "reverse line direction" lisp routine?

We've gotten around part of this issue, when the custom line has only a symbol such as "<" or ">" where I can simply change the line to the opposite directed arrow, but this doesn't work if the custom line type has, for example, an "E" for electrical or a "G" for gas. The text in the linetype gets inverted because of the direction of curve or the length of the curve itself.
