Raster Vector Conversion and Vector Raster Conversion

At Cadtech Design a raster vector conversion project can be undertaken to produce
professional, accurate CAD drawings.

Basically a raster file is an image that has been scanned into file formats such as JPEG and TIFF.

A firm may have old paper drawings on file that they would like “backed up” by having them scanned into a raster format.

Vector files on the other hand are essentially CAD drawings that can be manipulated.

Vector entities can be setup to reflect company and industry standards; containing different line weights, text fonts, etc.

Since raster images are difficult to manipulate, many firms undergo raster vector conversion for the purpose of having CAD drawings that they can later make changes to and to have scaled, accurate drawings at their disposal.

On large projects of 200+ large format sheets, we will do the scanning of your original drawings free of charge and the cost shipping of your originals is usually included.

CAD Conversion Guarantee

We guarantee that our work on cad conversion projects will be accurate to that of your legible originals or we will make the necessary changes free of charge.

You can also send us your scanned images by ftp or courier for us to convert.  Projects are processed to your company’s CAD standards, or if you prefer, we will convert your project to industry specific CAD standards such as AIA standards.

Vector Raster Conversion (Vector to raster)

There are also times when a client wishes to have their CAD drawings undergo vector raster conversion. This process is basically the reverse of raster vector conversion whereas CAD drawings are saved into raster format. This process can usually be achieved utilizing the CAD program itself.

Why would a company want to convert their CAD drawings into raster format? For a couple of reasons:

  • Indexing of a project into a format that can easily viewed by anyone that does not have the use of, or is familiar with, a CAD program.
  • For security - archiving sensitive project files that can not be easily manipulated. It is much more difficult for a raster file to be changed than a vector file that is in CAD format.
