How to Create an XREF?

Q. It has been years since I have created an XREF.

A. An XREF (external reference) is created like any other drawing file. In fact, it is a drawing file.

Instead of inserting blocks of drawings into your drawing, using XREF drawings cuts down on the space a block might take up inside your drawing, leaving you with a smaller CAD file.

To add an XREF to your drawing, simply type XREF at the command prompt and browse to the file you would like to attach or overlay.
