After nearly 20 years in limbo, CAD for Mac is back - AutoCAD that is.
No more running 3rd party PC-MAC software go-betweens to run AutoCAD on a Mac.
With Apple's sales ever increasing for the Macintosh computer, it is clear to see that Autodesk again sees the potential of it's industry leading software for the Mac computer.
The full release was first available in the fall of 2010 to North America and Europe, through pre-ordering, but now AutoCAD for Mac is available directly from the Autodesk website.
PC AutoCAD users with a current license can choose to upgrade from a number of releases.
The free mobile application AutoCAD WS will also be available for those with an iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.
This will enable AutoCAD Mac users to have access to drawings on the fly and make basic modifications; which would be great for construction site visits.
AutoCAD for Mac has been designed with the assistance of 5000 beta testers to ensure real CAD users with Mac experience have the opportunity to provide valuable input.
The drawing format for AutoCAD (DWG) will also be used by the Mac.
Opening a drawing file created by AutoCAD for Windows, on this new CAD software for Mac, will be effortless.
No file conversion between operating systems will be necessary.
