AutoCAD LT Does What I Need

by Brad Jacobs
(Kirkland, Washington, United States)

I've used AutoCAD 2004 for quite some time at a building contracting firm.

I never had the need to use all of the CAD program's features, such as 3D modeling or rendering.

Since I've ventured out on my own, doing drawings for contractors on a freelance basis, I needed to find a program that is similar to AutoCAD (since this is what I know) but without the enormous price.

I decided to give AutoCAD Lite a try and am very impressed with all the features it offers as a 2D CAD program.

The transition from full blown AutoCAD to ACAD LT was very easy, as they are almost the same (without all the whistles and bells in the full AutoCAD program).

I found the link through your site to download a 30 day trial version of AutoCAD LT, used it for about 6 days, and went ahead and purchased the program.

That was about 2 months ago and have been very happy with it.

Just wanted to thank you for all the great information you provide regarding CAD programs.

Brad Jacobs

AutoCAD LT is a good alternative
by: RJ - Admin.

Glad to hear you found these free CAD resources useful Brad.

AutoCAD LT is a very good alternative to AutoCAD, less it's 3D capabilities (although it has basic 3D) and Autolisp features, at a fraction of the cost.

There are many 2D projects that can be undertaken with LT, including architectural, structural, residential, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and so on.
