AutoCAD Isolate Layer / Linetype

Q. I some times get drawings were there is only two or three layers, but the drawing has many colors and many line types.
Is there a way I could isolate a layer by line type and or color?
A. By using the Quickselect tool, you can isolate objects using several parameters; including color, line type, etc.
Type QSELECT at the command line.
Once you play with this tool for a while, you will see that it is a very powerful filter.
Another command I like to use to select objects by simply picking them, is the SSX command.
Once you choose an object, it puts the entities in memory. All you have to do afterward, is choose your command, and when it asks you to select objects, type P for previous. All the entities selected previously, using SSX, are now chosen.
SSX is explained in more detail in one of our newsletters here
